New to the Baltimore Urban Debate League, Margaret Brent Middle School is coming out tough. For the first tournament, the "Link Debaters" as they call themselves, have a considerable amount of spotlight in the novice division. These stats include Robtrea Brown and her partner, Chanel Merritt, going 3-0, earning them the 7^th place team out of 83. Robtrea also earned the right to take home 2^nd place speaker. Guiding these young talents is Mr. Isa Coleman, who has only been a coach for six months but debated in college himself. As this is the first year the school has even had a debate team, the debate squad is made up of about 12 eager youths. Mr. Coleman guides these kids with quotes such as, "Confidence in Confusion," meaning he wants his team to look and be confident even when they don't know what's going on. Truly, Margaret Brent is no pushover. They wanted to leave this quote for the rest of the debaters out there: "Come back right, don't fight, and get your debate game tight."
