Team Profile - Bluford Drew Jemison Academy I

Between the Lil Wayne lyrics, Naruto episode recaps and the famous "What's for dinner?" question, Bluford has shown me exactly what I have anticipated seeing in them: POTENTIAL. Bluford's debate team has actually only been growing for a year now and already has 58 debaters. They are broken up into at least four different groups between each coach. Not all debaters are at veteran levels, many attend debate practice merely because of the dinner. As I continue to come to practice I intend on inspiring them all to become the best debaters they can be. My job as an apprentice is to plan, promote, organize and execute anything that is in my teams' best interest. I asked Terrell P. who attended the first BUDL tournament how it went, he replied "my first debate was in October, we won two and the last was a bye". "I plan to debate next year", he told me. I have recognized that many of these boys whether competing or just coming to practice have a heart for debate. They love the fact that they can prove their point to an opponent not physically, but where it hurts in the mind. These boys portray images of future lawyers, doctors, and maybe presidents.
