Important Notes for MS Tournament #3
MIDDLE SCHOOL TOURNAMENT #3 WILL BE AT TOWSON!!!
Please note the December 9th BUDL Middle School tournament will be held at Towson University. This will cause a few changes in planning.
Time: The busses will still pick up students between 12:15 and 12:45 (pay attention in the next week for bus schedules) but because Towson is further away it will take busses a little longer to get to and from Towson. Having the pairings released at the beginning of the tournament will make the schedule stricter after arrival. Nevertheless, plan on leaving Towson at 6:15PM. The schedule is as follows -Rd 1- 1:45 Rd 2-2:45 Rd 3 – 4:00, Snacks 5:00-5:30, Awards Ceremony 5:30-6:15. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND INFORM PARENTS ABOUT THE LATER TIME.
Food: Because of the longer day we will be providing more substantial food at this tournament. We will provide snacks at arrival and pizza at the end of the day.
Location: Finally, we are very excited to be able to provide such a great space for the debates for this tournament, we are very thankful to Towson for providing it. We do, however, need to be careful to remember that a college setting is slightly different than Lake Clifton and that if we want this opportunity in the future we need to make sure that the students hold themselves to a level of conduct that will not anger our hosts. We will have specific instructions at the tournament, but help us to set the tone for this in advance.
New registration guidelines for BUDL Middle school coaches
Our goal is to accommodate everyone who wants to bring teams to middle school debate tournaments. Given the overwhelming numbers of students who attended our first two tournaments, we recognize the need to maximize the time spent debating and minimize time waiting at the beginning of the tournament. Therefore , we will implement the following changes in registration for all of our upcoming tournaments:
Registration Closes @ Noon on Day of Tournament: No Registration changes will be taken at the tournament. At noon on the day of the tournament, we will close registration and print pairings for Rounds 1 & 2. No new teams will be added after this point. Partner switches will be allowed in extreme circumstances at the tab room’s discretion. If you fail to notify us that a team you registered is absent on tournament day, you will give another school a free win and deny their students a debate.
No Onsite Registration: If you fail to register your team by the Tuesday Deadline and we do not know you are coming in advance, then your school will not be able to debate.
Registration Deadline is Firm: The deadline for entry is Tuesday December 6th at 9:00PM. Please use the online registration form. Contact us immediately if you have any changes.
