TOWSON UNIVERSITY — Towson University hosted the BUDL's fifth annual season opener workshop on September 13th and 14th. More than 130 debaters and 25 coaches gathered to learn about the new high school debate topic: oceans. There were twenty schools in attendence, making this workshop the largest debate workshop in BUDL's history. Students discussed debate theory, planned for college, judged a demonstration debate, and assembled research in preparation for the first debate tournament on September 20th. The new BUDL parent committee met on Sunday and made plans to strengthen support for the league. Teachers also gathered to talk about debate strategy and to plan for the upcoming season. For several schools in Baltimore, including Western high school and New Era Academy, this will be the first year of their debate programs. For pictures, (click here).
