School Funding Debate and Protest

This is a public rally starting at 4:30 p.m., moving to a trial\ in absentia of Governor Ehrlich and Dr. Grasmick for failure to comply with\ court orders regarding school funding. The Algebra Project is organizing the\ event. BUDL will be conducting debates.

format : Format\ is still being specified. At the rally, there will be points made by hip-hop\ artists and others, as well as more formal speeches.
During the trial phase\ at the State Board of Ed., a mock trial approach will be used.
comments : We anticipate police interrupting the trial, potentially through arresting\ participants. Participants willing to risk arrest as an act of civil disobedience\ should attend a civil disobedience training at Waverly Library, 33rd and Greenmount,\ 1:00, Saturday, May 14.
Participants not wanting to risk arrest will be\ in the majority; a safe location for these participants is already marked off.
