“Now Debate This” scholarship contest for High School Juniors
Description: The annual Now Debate This debate competition is a travel experience for 16 high school juniors to debate about important current events to a grand prize of $150,000 for college. To get to the finals, students submit three minutes videos relating to the annual issue to YouTube and School Tube, where they are judged for creativity, depth of knowledge, and technical execution.
Award: $150,000 (1), $50,000 (2)

Women’s Debate Institute
Scholarship Name: Julia Burke Foundation Scholarships
Description: The mission of the Women’s Debate Institute is to close the gender gap in debate by creating a supportive community of women debaters. In partnership with the Julia Burke Foundation, they offer 10 girls with full college tuition.

The American Legion
Scholarship Name: American Legion High School Oratorical Scholarship Program
Description: This isn’t a traditional debate team or forensics scholarship, but rather combines public speaking and history to create a challenging contest for bright, dedicated high school seniors. The contest consists of a prepared oration on topics related to the Constitution, specifically citizenship. The speech will be given first at the local level, then nationally. The contest is a lot of work and commitment, but the pay-off is a great one: a $18,000 scholarship for college. Eligible students must be under the age of 20.
Award: $14,000 – $18,000

Emory College of arts and Science scholarship
The Barkley Forum, in conjunction with the Emory Office of Admission, awards a merit scholarship to an incoming first-year student each year. To be considered, you must demonstrate academic achievement and debate excellence. Submit your application directly to the Barkley Forum and Emory’s dean of admission. The information required on the application includes your current cumulative GPA, standardized test scores and a record of debate accomplishments. Concordia Speech and Debate program
Forensics team scholarships To apply for a scholarship, please follow these steps:
   1. List your speech team/debate team activities.
 
    2. Write a statement of your intention to be involved in the forensics team.
 
    3. Have your speech teacher or coach send a letter of recommendation to the address below.
 
    4. Submit a short video or CD of a speech or another event in which you participate on your speech team. This can be done by a friend running a camera and it does not need to be filmed at an actual meet. Materials in support of a forensic team scholarship should be sent to:

Creighton University scholarships
Creighton University offers $4,000 scholarships renewable for four years to students who excel in speech activities. The scholarships will be based on academic along with speech and/or debate achievements. Continuation of the scholarship over the four-year academic term will require maintaining a 2.5 cumulative GPA and participation on the Creighton University Speech and Debate team.
